Venue: Idrottsgården, Mariehamn
Idrottsgården is a multipurpose sports hall located in central Mariehamn adjecent to Idrottsparken. There is an existing judo hall, but
the judo competition will be held in a larger hall measuring 18 x 32 metres, which is located on the first floor.
In addition to the judo hall Idrottsgården contains an 8-lane bowling alley, weightlifting/fitness facilities, a conference room, two large changing rooms, 4 smaller changing rooms and cafeteria.
Idrottsgården is the home to Åland's Judo Club. The club has 130 members, majority of whom are juniors. There are about 20 senior members, one of them being Samuel Mäki. Samuel is a member of the Finnish Olympic Team and has won a number of national gold medals, the latest one conquered in March 2009.
Åland's Judo Club has vast experience in organising competitions. In March 2009, the club hosted the Finnish national championships with 140 competing athletes.

On March 28-29, Åland was invaded by 140 judokas from all over the country to battle it out to become Finnish champions. The standard of the competitions was very high with athletes with experience from Olympic Games and European and world championships. At the same time, it was a great general rehearsal for the NatWest Island Games XIII.
Åland´s Judo Club were the organisors, headed by Eva Fellman and Diana Lindström. Eva is the chairman of the technical committee and Diana the judo sport coordinator.
- We have learnt a great deal we now can use when planning the NatWest Island Games this summer, says Diana.
