(2009-07-03) 3:02 PM End of the day. Cotillard/Ashton from Jersey and Le Moigne/Lloyd are in the Mixed double´s final. Saturday starts with Men´s and Women´s singel semifinals at 9:00 AM follow by the Finals.

(2009-07-03) 10:07 AM In men´s doubles Elsner/Kliest from Geenland will meet Poulsen/Lamhauge from Faroe in the final on Saturday. Lloyd/Green from Guernsey and Smith/Poulsen from Faroe will meet in Women´s double final.

(2009-07-02) 8:41 AM. Yesterday in the individual event, the singles where played all the way through the quarter final stages. In the womans singles semi finals we will see S. Smit (Faroes) vs. K. Clague (ISle of Man), in the other semi-final we will see C. Callow (Isle of Man) vs. M. Kongstad (Greenland). In the mens singles semi finals we will see B.Madsen (Greenland) vs. A. Poulsen (Faroes). The second mens semi finals will be E. Navarro COMES (Menorca) vs. F. Elsner (Greenland). This is the first time Menorca participates in the Island Games Badminton competition. The singles semi finals will be played on Saturday morning starting at 09.00. Today Thursday, badminton will be playing mens and womans doubles.

Players Party!
Badminton will hold a Players Party for all the players in Badminton, Monday night after the team event price ceremony, at Games street. The entrance fee is €15 to be paid at the entrance.

(2009-06-28) Badminton finished the first round of the team event around 12.30 on Sunday June 28th. The first round saw Greenland beat Isle of Man 5 - 0 in Group A. The Faroes beat Guernsey 4 - 1, and Menorca won over Jersey 3 - 2 in Group B. In Group C Isle of Man beat the Falkland Isles 5 - 0 and Gotland won over Gibraltar 4 - 1. Vikingahallen is a newly renovated sports hall. It was the venue for the volleyball competition in 1991 and it is situated 10 minutes by car from Mariehamn. The hall area is 1,400 m²

BK Smash is the only badminton club on Åland.

At present about 200 people play badminton and of these 40 are juniors who train regularly.

No large badminton competitions have been arranged on Åland since the 1991 Island Games but having entered the badminton competition at a number of Games there is a wealth of experience available.
