Number of Island Games I've participated in:
7
I can sum up my entire Island Games career in this way:
Taken part in the Games on the Isle of Man, the Faroe Islands, the Isle of Wight Gibraltar, Jersey and Shetland. Have worked as General Team Manager, and Deputy Team Manager. Was General Secretary for the Games on Åland in 1991.
My most vivid memory from the Island Games:
The first Games on the Isle of Man in 1985 and the Games on Åland
Why I want to take part in the NatWest Island Games XIII:
For most sportsmen the Games are the only chance they get for international exchange and that's why it's important for the development of Åland sport. For the average Ålander a home games is a fantastic chance to get to know islanders from such diverse cultures as Greenland in the north and the Falkland Islands in the south.
My visions/hopes for the Natwest Island Games are:
Fair play, well-organised, a lot of fun and joy
What is it that's going to make the NatWest XIII 2009 Åland Island Games special? What do you think the participants will remember most when they go home?
The Ålanders are going to make an impression on our guests. They are friendly, open and curious and, in addition, the vast majority are sport crazy! I hope the visiting sportsmen remember the games for the well run competitions and the high standard of the venues.
